Stepniak won the Tour of Estonia for the second timeThis year’s Tour of Estonia (UCI 2.1) finished with the Tartu GP (172,8 km), where Dane Andreas Nielsen (Riwal) showed the fastest legs in the final sprint. Tour of Estonia 2016 winner Grzegorz Stepniak (Wibatech) triumphed in the general classification. Because of yesterday’s Tallinn-Tartu GP (199,5 km), the Minsk Cycling Club and Wibatech held the upper hand in the race to glory. If there was a most active team’s award in today’s race, it should’ve gone to Team Estonia. They tried everything to break the group and get away from the punch. Couple of laps before the end a group of 14 members got away from the peloton. Although Estonians tried their best, it all came down to group finish, where Andreas Nielsen (Riwal) was the fastest one. He finished ahead of Poland’s Grzegorz Stepniak (Wibatech) and Belarusian Siarhei Papoki (Minsk Cycling Club). Stepniak won the general classification ahead of Nielsen.
„It was more difficult to win this year than in 2016. Our team worked really well today, everybody knew their role and worked as a group for one guy,“ Stepniak said after the race.
